You will not find it exciting or entertaining to participate in similar marathon events time after time. Eventually, you will get bored and will want to move to something a little more intriguing. This cycle of change not only keeps you interested in your workout sessions but also keeps your body guessing as to what is going to happen in a few days or a few hours down the line. That's right. It is very important for you to keep on exploring different types of running events and races in the city. Some people even travel to different states across the country to challenge their physical limits, endurance, and stamina. You can do that too. But for that, you must know what is ultra Marathon, an obstacle race, or perhaps a 10K run for children is. There are many categories that you still don't know about. 1. What is a Fun Run? Even the name sounds interesting. These events are organised during the summer months and in India, they are usually held in the months of spring. A 5k Run: A 5 K run is smaller than your half marathon training session. The entire event revolves around the 5 km distance. You will have to invest in proper running gear to participate in such events. It is a proper running event with all the rules and regulations conveyed to you in advance. 4. A 10 K Run: A 10 K run is similar to a 5K run except for the distance that is double. It is going to take at least 50 to 60 minutes for you to complete this run. Again, even these are held for charitable purposes and to spread awareness in society regarding a sensitive cause. 5. How About A Half-Marathon? A half marathon is going to be around 20 or 22 km. These are found on the bucket lists of thousands of people across the country. They are quite challenging and require you to practice for at least 6 months before you register yourself. The entire run is going to be completed in a little over 3 hours if you are moderately experienced. For a regular runner, it should take around 2 or 2.5 hours. 6. How About A Full Marathon? A full marathon is the area of an expert. It is over 40 km in distance and takes close to 6.5 hours to complete. You will have to practice again for a period of at least 6 months to come to that level of endurance that can prove beneficial in such running events. Some people prepare for years to take part in their first full marathon. 7. Introducing The Ultra Marathon: Now, you want to know what this is all about. What is an ultra marathon? Why is everybody curious about this? An Ultra Marathon is much longer than the 42 km range mentioned above. It can be as long as 100 KM. So yes, you are going to need tremendous physical strength, stamina, and willpower as well. The terrains that these ultra marathons cover include mountains, hills, deserts, forests, lakes, and even rivers. Yes, the track is going to be immensely challenging.
